Santos Press, LLC is pleased to share that the first two titles of The Adventures of Chomp the Chimp children’s picture book series (The Adventures of Chomp the Chimp and Chomp the Chimp and the Rainy Day) have found a home at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. The books are now available at the Hospital where they can become part of the reading experience for children and families during their time at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
The donation includes both hardcover and paperback editions, allowing the books to serve different needs within the hospital environment. A total of 27 books between the two titles were provided. For Santos Press, the donation represents something more important than simply placing books on a shelf.
Children’s books can provide familiarity during unfamiliar moments.
A hospital can be an intimidating environment for a young child. A story, a familiar character, or simply the opportunity to sit with a book and share it with a parent or caregiver can provide a small moment of normalcy. Chomp’s stories are stories about the everyday experiences of childhood and how children can learn to approach change, uncertainty, and new experiences with curiosity and confidence.
We are grateful to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for giving Chomp an opportunity to become part of that environment.
About The Adventures of Chomp the Chimp
Written by Franco E. Santos, The Adventures of Chomp the Chimp is a gentle picture-book series for young readers generally between the ages of 3 and 7. Each story follows Chomp, a curious young chimpanzee, as he explores his surroundings, encounters new experiences, and learns to understand himself and the world around him. Informed by Franco’s educational background and training in developmental psychology, the series explore stories that delve into the experiences familiar to young children including changes in routine, uncertainty, new surroundings, emotional regulation, resilience, and learning to navigate unfamiliar situations.
The series is intended for family reading, classrooms, libraries, and other settings where children and adults share stories together.
